Staff Profile

Hello! My name is Kayla Johnson. I am a Federal Setting III Special Education Teacher at Chelsea Heights. I have worked in special education for 6 years but have worked with children since I was in high school. Before coming to Chelsea Heights, I was a teacher at Bridge View Special Education School in SPPS for 3 years and worked as the Due Process Facilitator (IEP paperwork) at a charter school in Minneapolis for 2 years. My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. I am excited for my return to the classroom this school year.

I live in Minneapolis with my partner Harrison, and our two cats Paul and Paisley. In my free time I enjoy cooking plant-based foods (I have been vegan or vegetarian for over 10 years!), gardening, traveling, reading thrillers, practicing yoga, biking, and trying new local restaurants!
