| Reading Workshop In first grade the majority of our day is spent on literacy. We read during Reading Workshop. |
| Word Work In First Grade we concentrate on learning to read and write about 110 high frequency words (words most often seen in books). We also practice using chunks (rimes) to help us in our reading and writing. For example if you know look, you know took, book, shook. |
| Math We are using the Everyday Math Curriculum which combines hands on activities with a practice workbook. The math concepts are revisited throughout the year which helps students have a better understanding of math. Basic facts are taught through a series of games. |
