Special Features The school has strong community arts partnerships with the Ordway Center, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Ethnic Dance, Plymouth Music Program and others. Students participate in citywide arts performances. Mississippi Magnet's Schoolwide enrichment Model (SEM) provides opportunities for students who need additional challenges. Students can participate in the school's accelerated learning programs and in activities such as Continental Math, Destination Imagination, History Day, Spelling Bee, Quiz Bee, Quiz Bowls, Junior Great Books, individualized learning, projects and many others. Services for special education students and English language learners are offered with the general classes. The school has a strong emphasis on family and community involvement. Mississippi is a member of the National Network of Partnership Schools. Extended day programs include Area Learning Center (ALC) program, Connecting Friends and Broadway Musical. Extended year opportunities are offered by the Area Learning Center Summer Program. |
