March 2008 March is going to be a very busy month for third graders as they will be practicing many skills for the upcoming MCA tests. Please continue to read with your child every night and asking them questions about what they had read. Conferences are also just around the corner. Please look for your scheduled time. It is very important that you attend the Spring conferences as well for your child. This is a time that I will discuss with you your child's academic and social growth as well as let you know about Summer school. Third graders have just finished their artist biographies and will be focusing on How To writings during Writer's Workshop. They continue to move up the reading levels in the Spring and responding appropriately to the texts. In math, they will continue to work with fact families for multiplication and division problems, and learn to solve more math word problems. Please have your child practice the times table up to 12 at home as well. |
